PETERSEN MEDIA- Making his first start aboard the potent Roth Motorsports No. 83jr Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway, Cory Eliason would pick up a 10th place finish with the King of the West Sprint Car Series.
“I really want to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth, Todd Ventura, and everyone at Roth Motorsports who gave me the opportunity to run their car this weekend,” Eliason said. “We had a good start to the night, but were just a little off in the feature event.”
Timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments No. 83jr machine in second fastest in qualifying time trials, Eliason would race his way from his fourth starting position to finish second during his heat race.
Based on his qualifying time and his heat race finish, the Kingsburg, CA driver would move into the night’s Dash where the five pill would line him up in the third row for the six-lap shootout.
Falling back to the seventh spot, Eliason would place the Southern Pacific Farms/KPC machine in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event. With the top side of the speedway slicking off, and moisture still on the bottom groove much of the field would go to work on the bottom side of the ¼ mile bullring.
With his machine just a little too free, Eliason would struggle to stick the bottom, though would keep his machine inside the Top-10 during the feature event. Getting out of shape late in the race, Eliason would settle his machine down, but would fall back to the 10th spot where he would go on to finish.
“We were pretty good early in the night, but just tried to stay free enough to run the bottom, but went too far,” Eliason said. “It was a pleasure to race with the Roth Motorsports team, and hopefully we can do it again soon.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2016.
ON TAP: The Roth Motorsports No. 83jr machine will be back in action this weekend at the Silver Dollar Speedway with Ryan Bernal in the driver’s seat.
