PETERSEN MEDIA- Battling some first race bugs over the weekend in Tulare, CA, Cory Eliason and Antaya Motorsports already have their sights set on this weekend’s event in Stockton, CA.

“It was our first race of the season, and our first race together, and we had some issues arise that slowed us down a little bit,” Cory Eliason said. “We would have liked to be a little bit better than we were, but it’s a long season.”

Friday night would get underway with Eliason timing the Good Guys Rod and Custom Association/Fire Protection Management, Inc./TW Performance backed No. 20 machine in 23rd fastest in time trials.

Running eighth in his heat, Eliason would be forced into the Last Chance Showdown where he would line up in the fourth spot. Fighting some issues in the semi, Eliason would slip back to the seventh spot and the team’s night would come to an end.

Saturday marked a new day, and things would get off to a much better start as the Kingsburg, CA driver would time in seventh fastest during qualifications.

Starting on the front row of his heat race alongside Donny Schatz, Eliason would finish in the third spot and transfer into the 35-lap ‘A’ Main event. Lining up in the sixth row of the feature, Eliason would battle back in the 11th and 12th spot in the early goings of the race.

On the 11th lap, contact with another car would prove detrimental to Antaya Motorsports’ night as a broken part in the suspension would bring the team’s night to an end.

“Everyone worked hard, and we worked to all get on the same page and I think we got going in the right direction as the weekend went on,” Eliason added. “I have to thank everyone who works on this thing, and Larry Antaya for giving me a great opportunity.”

Antaya Motorsports would like to thank Good Guys Rod and Custom Association, Fire Protection Management, Inc., TW Performance, Kaeding Performance, Cardinal Paint and Powder, Tool World, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, and Shiro’s Collision Center for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: Eliason and the Antaya Motorpsorts team will return to action on Friday and Saturday night in Stockton, CA. Antaya Motorsports would also like to remind everyone that the Good Guys Rod and Custom Car Show will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday in Pleasanton, CA.
