Cory Eliason Seventh at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- A busy stretch in the King of the West Series schedule continued over the weekend for Cory Eliason and Antaya Motorsports, as the team finished seventh during their lone visit to Placerville Speedway in 2017.
“It was just one of those nights where we couldn’t get our car in the track and we just struggled with being too free,” Cory Eliason said. “My guys threw everything at it each time we hit the track, and we were still able to get away with a seventh place finish.”
With 23 cars in the pit area for the fourth KWS event of the 2017 season, Eliason would time the Good Guys Rod and Custom Association/Fuel Curve/Fire Protection Management, Inc. backed No. 20 machine in 12th fastest in time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Kingsburg, CA driver would struggle a little as DJ Netto and Kyle Hirst were able to get by as he settled for a third place finish, which was good enough to lock him into the nine-car Dash.
Find himself scratch on the field in the Dash line up, Eliason would rebound from an early spin to finish sixth and put the TW Performance/Kaeding Performance/Cardinal Paint and Powder entry in the third row for the 30-lap ‘A’ Main event.
On an extremely slick racing surface, Eliason just could not seem to get rolling forward as he and the Antaya Motorsports team would have liked. Getting up to the sixth spot at times battling with Kyle Hirst, Eliason would fall back as far as eighth as he searched the various lines that Placerville Speedway offered.
In the end, Eliason would hang on to finish seventh in the feature event and sits third in the series standings after four races.
“My guys continue to work hard for me, and hopefully I can do my part this weekend in Tulare, CA,” Eliason said. “Thanks to TW, Larry, and everyone who continues to make this possible for me.”
Antaya Motorsports would like to thank Good Guys Rod and Custom Association, Fuel Curve, Fire Protection Management, Inc., TW Performance, Kaeding Performance, Cardinal Paint and Powder, Tool World, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, and Shiro’s Collision Center for their support in 2017.
