PETERSEN MEDIA: Leaving the West Coast after a dominant week, Cory Eliason and his Van Dyke Motorsports team made the trek to the Midwest as they kicked off their summer tour at the Knoxville Raceway.

“I had a blast running Knoxville for the first time,” Eliason said. “We didn’t quite time in where we had hoped, but we stayed at it and had a great run during the feature event.”

Timing the Lucas Oil/Hansen Machine/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 5h machine in 14th quickest, Eliason would pick up a third place finish during his heat race. Moving into the his first feature event at the “Mecca of Mud”, the Kingsburg, CA driver would find himself in the 15th starting position for the 20-lap feature event.

With the track extremely racy in the feature, Eliason showed no fear as he began to work the Van Dyke Motorsports machine through the field on the ½ mile speedway.

Using a pair of yellow flags to his advantage, Eliason would pick up track position as he worked his way to the Top-10. Getting by Matt Moro and Josh Schneiderman late in the feature event, Eliason would take over the seventh spot as he chased after sixth running Billy Alley.

With the 20-lap feature event wrapping up in no time at all, Eliason would close his first ever trip to the facility with a seventh place finish.

“It was a good first night out, I thought,” Cory Eliason said. “Harley Van Dyke gave me a great car for the feature and I just searched around and continued to get comfortable.”

The Van Dyke Motorsports team would like to thank Lucas Oil, Hansen Machine, NAAKE Suspension, Maxim Chassis, and Moyle Racing Engines for their support during the year.
