Cox 2nd at Stockton Dirt Track

PETERSEN MEDIA: Closing his season out by going double duty in Stockton, CA, Justyn Cox would finish second with the Civil War Series before having an early night with the King of the West Series.
“It was quite the night running two cars, but we had some great help it really made the night go smoothly,” Justyn Cox said. “We ran really well in the Civil War feature, but unfortunately we did not make many laps with the King of the West.”
In Civil War Series action, Cox timed the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31c machine in sixth fastest. Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Cox would race his way to a second place finish and move into the feature event, as well as the Dash, based on his qualifying effort.
Pulling the three-pill in the Dash draw, Cox would finish in the fourth spot and roll off for the 30-lap feature event in the second row. A very hooked up and rough surface greeted drivers and teams on this night, and Cox took full advantage of starting up front.
Battling with the likes of Colby Copeland, Jonathan Allard for most of the race, Cox would run in third for much of the race. A caution with five to go let Cox hang with second running Copeland for a few laps putting him in prime position to take the second spot on the 23rd lap as Copeland got tight in front of him.
Fending him off the final two laps, Cox would take the checkered flag with a strong second place finish.
“It was a lot of fun racing with Jonathan Allard and Colby Copeland in the 360ci feature event,” Cox added. “We had a really good car and were able to get a good result.”
In the King of the West program, Cox would time in 14th fastest and just narrowly miss the heat race inversion. Lining up in the third row of his heat, the Clarksburg, CA driver would finish fifth which put him in the seventh row for the 30-lap A Main event.
Struggling to get a handle on his car in the 30-lap KWS feature event, Cox would only make a couple of laps before opting to head back to the pit area.
“We struggled to find a balance in the 410ci car, so it made sense to save our equipment, and end our night early,” Cox said. “I really wan to thank Rodney, Roy, Eric, Brian, Phil, Lauren, Mike, and Kalib for all of their help to make running two cars simple and easy.”
The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, McColloch’s RV, and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2015!
