Cox 7th at Petaluma Speedway; Trophy Cup on Tap

PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night in Petaluma, CA, Justyn Cox and the C&M Motorsports team got in one final night of action leading into the biggest race of their season, the 27th Trophy Cup that kicks off on Thursday night in Tulare, CA.

“Petaluma was a bit of a struggle early,” Cox said. “It is a place that really doesn’t suit my driving style, so I have to give a lot of credit to Cody and the guys for working hard all night trying to give me something that I felt comfortable with, and I think we got it pretty close for the main. “

Timing the Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber/Legacy Specialties, Inc. backed No. 7c in seventh fastest in his time trial group, Cox would line up seventh in his heat race. Making some changes to their chassis set up prior to heat race action, lightning-fast track conditions would make maneuverability tough.

Able to pick up a spot, Cox’s sixth place finish would place him eighth in the qualifier race, which would offer up two more positions into the Dash, as well as set the feature event line up behind the Dash cars.

With the track still extremely hooked up, Cox would get into the seventh position and get in line as the field got strung out in the 12-lap race. Finishing sixth, the Citrus Heights, CA resident would find himself in the 11th start position for the impending 35-lap feature event.

Continuing to adjust the C&M Motorsports entry, Cox would make what moves he could during the feature event that would essentially go non-stop after a lap two red flag.

Able to work his way into the Top-10, Cox would chase after Blake Carrick who ran ahead of him as Cox was back in the seventh position. As the race clicked off, Cox’s mark would shift to Joel Myers Jr late in the race as the duo fought hard for position just outside of the Top-Five.

When the race came to a finish, Cox would take the checkered flag with a seventh-place finish.

“We did improve as the night went on, and I think we will be okay for the Trophy Cup,” Cox said. “Cody and the guys work really hard, and Tulare is a place that I have ran well at in years past, so I am really looking forward to seeing how we can do together as a team this weekend. Big thanks to Cody and Mandi for their continued support and this great opportunity.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Legacy Specialties, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Cox and C&M Motorsports are now set for the 27th Trophy Cup that comes to life in Tulare, CA this Thursday-Saturday.
