PETERSEN MEDIA: The Placerville Speedway hasn’t been one of Justyn Cox’s strong venues over the course of his career, and on Saturday night, Cox returned to the high-banked ¼ mile to continue to try and figure the place out, and came out of the weekend with a ninth place finish.

“We are getting closer at Placerville, and I can’t wait to get back up there this weekend, and try again,” Justyn Cox said.

In qualifying time trials on Saturday night, the Clarksburg, CA driver timed his Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31c machine in second quickest, before running third in his heat race.

Making himself eligible for the redraw by way of his heat race finish and his qualifying efforts, Cox would find himself with the seven pill, and in the fourth row for the 25-lap main event.

When the race went live, Cox felt his car out, and could tell they were on the free side, and opted to try and work the bottom of the speedway, as he worked into the sixth spot.

Trying to keep his machine glued to the bottom of the speedway, Cox would bounce off the berm wrong, and his PM Truck Repair/LRB/JRI Shocks backed entry would get out of shape, and he would slip back to the ninth spot., where he would ultimately go on to finish.

“My goal for Placerville is to get to the point where we are a contender on a nightly basis,” Cox said. “I think we are defiantly headed in the right direction, and I have to thank my crew, my grandfather, and my dad for their continued support, and hard work.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, JRI Shocks, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, Axcel Race Suits, SafRacer.Com, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports,  and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2015!

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-13, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-2

ON TAP: Cox will be back racing Saturday night as his team heads to the Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA.
