Cox Continues Stockton Success

PETERSEN MEDIA: Two tough opening weekends to the 2016 season were erased over the weekend in Stockton, CA as Justyn Cox would earn finishes of second and sixth place while competing in the 360ci division.
“We have run really well at Stockton as of late, and that continued over the weekend,” Cox noted. “My team is working really well together right now, and after the start to the season we had the last couple of weekends, it is nice to put together some good runs.”
The Clarksburg, CA driver would lay down a great lap during Friday’s qualifying session as he timed the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31c entry in fifth fastest which would place him in the second row of his heat race.
Finishing in the fifth position, Cox would earn a spot in the Dash by way of his qualifying time and his fifth place finish in that race lined him up in the third row for the 30-lap A Main event.
When the green flag dropped, Cox battled with Cory Eliason as they chased after the lead duo of Andy Forsberg and Colby Copeland. The racy Stockton Dirt Track saw Cox run in the fourth spot much of the race as the leaders battled in thick traffic.
A restart just past the race’s halfway point saw Cox get by Eliason for the third spot, as he set his sights on the lead duo. Again getting into traffic, Cox would make a move on Copeland in turns one and two with just two laps to go to take the second spot and earn his first podium finish of the season.
Saturday night would not get off to such a strong start for Cox as he struggled a bit in time trials, timing his PM Truck Repair/LRB/Sacramento Theatrical Lighting No. 31c machine in 15th fastest.
Picking up a fifth place finish in his heat race, Cox would grid the field from the 14th starting position. On another immaculately prepared Stockton Dirt Track, passing was on display during the duration of the feature event, and that included Cox who quickly moved inside the Top-10.
For the second night in a row, Cox would take advantage of late restart that allowed him to pick up a couple of positions, as he would go on to finish in the sixth position.
“We had a really good car in the feature on Saturday night, it is just a shame we struggled in time trials,” Cox said. “I am really pleased with how our 360ci program is coming together, and this week we will get the 410ci engine back in the car and see if we can get that side of things dialed in now.”
The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2016!
