Cox Fifth at Nor*Cal Posse Shootout Opener Before Saturday Contact Ends Night Early

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to Placerville Speedway over the weekend to take part in the Nor*Cal Posse Shootout, Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports would finish fifth during Friday night’s opener, before contact very early in Saturday’s feature ended their night.

“Friday night I made a mistake in the heat and it cost us a spot in the Dash,” Cox said. “We were good in the feature, I just did not driver a very clean race and it cost us a couple spots overall.”

Timing the Moorefield Construction/Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber backed No. 7c machine in fourth fastest in his qualifying group, Cox would put the C&M Motorsports machine on the front row of his heat race.

Slipping back to a second-place finish in his heat, Cox would transfer into the 30-lap feature event but would miss out on a Dash berth.

Lining up 11th in the feature, Cox would move forward on the racy Placerville Speedway surface. On a track that offered multiple grooves on both ends, Cox would work his way forward and soon find himself inside the Top-5.

Getting as high as fourth, a couple mistakes while working the cushion would see Cox cap his night with a fifth-place finish.

Back for more action on Saturday night, Cox would again get his night started by timing in fourth fastest in his qualifying group. Taking care of business on this night from the front row of his heat race, Cox would race his way to a win and safely qualify for both the Dash and the feature event.

Finishing fifth in the Dash, Cox would grid the field from the third row to start the 40-lap Nor*Cal Posse feature event.

Cox’s night would get cut short however, as contact on the third lap would leave his machine damaged and he would be done for the remainder of the event.

“We made some changes after qualifying on Saturday night, and they made the world of difference,” Cox said. “We got through our heat, had a decent Dash and I was excited for us heading into the feature. Unfortunately contact very early in the race left us with some damage that ended our night. Thanks to all the great people involved with C&M Motorsports for their help and support, and another thank you to Cody and Mandi for continuing to have me drive for them.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
