PETERSEN MEDIA: Ironing out some issues during a tough opening night on Saturday at the Marysville Raceway, Justyn Cox is focused on putting Saturday night in the rear view mirror as he sets his sites on the upcoming Silver Cup in Chico, CA.
“We didn’t have a chance to practice before our first race, so we used Saturday night as that to an extent and worked out some issues,” Cox said. “We ran into an issue in the feature event, but we will look to get better for this weekend’s race.”
Timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31c machine in 15th fastest in qualifying time trials, Cox would finish in the fifth spot of his heat race.
Lining the PM Truck Repair/LRB/Konnected Clothing machine up 14th in the 25-lap feature event, Cox would get off to a nice start as he quickly worked his way into the Top-10.
Racing around the hooked up Marysville Raceway, Cox would battle with the likes of Geoff Ensign and Jeremy Hawes in the early goings of the race, until he was involved in a lap 17 wreck in turns one and two.
Though the damage was too significant, Cox opted to call it a night as he was credited with an 18th place finish.
“It felt good to be back in the car, and I am really excited for this year ahead,” Cox added. “We have some great people who make this possible and make it fun, so we will try again this weekend at the Silver Cup.”
The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2016!
