PETERSEN MEDIA: Checking in at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for a night of action with the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster, Justyn Cox would finish in the ninth spot on an extremely slick Placerville Speedway.
“We didn’t exactly set the world on fire on Saturday night, but it was a pretty consistent night for our race team and that is what we need,” Justyn Cox said.
Timing in ninth fastest in qualifying time trials, Cox would find himself on the front row of his heat race, looking for a way to race into the all important dash on this night.
Battling with Mason Moore at the start of his heat, Cox would slip into the second spot, where he would finish, and find himself in the sixth row for the 30-lap feature event.
On a slick Placerville Speedway, most of the field was working the bottom of turns one and two, and running the cushion in three and four. Cox would find himself out of line and on the outside of turns one and two as he tried to work his way forward.
Able to get into the Top-10, Cox would continue to fight for position on the bottom of the speedway in one and two, but would continue to be stuck on the high side, trying to make it work.
Cox could pull even with some of his fellow competitors but would lose his momentum of the turn two exit as he continued to run in the ninth spot.
In the race’s closing laps, a late restart would bunch the field up in single file formation. Hanging on to his Top-10 position, Cox would close the night out with a ninth place finish.
“These consistent nights will turn into better finishes in the long run,” Cox added. “The car was really good, and I felt like everyone was pretty close on speed on Saturday. My guys are working really hard, and hopefully we can have two good nights coming up this weekend.”
