Cox Secures Sprint Car Challenge Tour Top-10 as Point Chase Tightens

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to Sprint Car Challenge Tour competition on Sunday night at in Marysville, CA, Justyn Cox would pick up a seventh place finish, but more importantly jumped to within just four points of the series points lead.
“It wasn’t a fantastic night for us, and the track kind of threw us some curveballs, but in the big picture we made up a lot of points and we are sitting in a really good spot as he head into Placerville with the series in two weeks,” Justyn Cox said.
With 30 cars on hand for the series’ first ever visit to Marysville Raceway, Cox would time in third fastest in his qualifying group which would place him on the front row of his heat race.
When the heat race went green, Cox would settle into second as he chased after Max Mittry. Taking advantage of a Mittry miscue, Cox would take over the top spot and go on to pick up the win.
Moving into the Dash with the win, Cox would find himself with the five pill, and in the third row of the six-lap affair. Finishing fifth, Cox would take the green flag from the third row to get the 35-lap finale underway.
As the race went green, the Clarksburg, CA driver would slip back to ninth aboard the Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber, Inc./Lund Construction backed No. 7c machine.
On a track that was wet, tacky, and fast, passing would be tough at times, though Cox would do what he could to get his machine going forward. Able to pick up a couple of positions over the course of the fast paced race, Cox would close the night out with a seventh place finish, but would move back to second in the series point standings, just four points out of the lead.
“It was one of those nights where we were all just happy to get a solid finish, and have a good points night,” Cox added. “Thanks to Cody and all of the guys for their hard work, as well as to Cody and Mandi for continuing to let me drive their car this year. Looking forward to the next two weeks at Placerville.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
