PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending his weekend at the Silver Dollar Speedway for the big Dave Bradway Jr Memorial weekend, Justyn Cox would finish third during Friday night’s shortened feature event, before taking a wild ride during the 40-lap feature event on Saturday night.

“Aside from the flip, we had a really good weekend going, and did a lot of good things with our car,” Cox said. “Friday was  a strange deal, but we had ourlseves in a good spot until the power went out, and on Saturday we were pretty fast, but had a big crash.”

Saturday night was the running of the 25th Annual Dave Bradway Jr Memorial, and with 31 cars on hand for the series’ marquee event, Cox would time his Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31 machine in ninth fastest.

Lining up on front row of his heat race, Cox would get the jump over Shane Golobic, and race his way to the win, and earn a spot in the all-important dash. Lining up in the third spot for the dash, Cox would get stuck in the grease on the bottom of the speedway when things got underway, and would slip back to a sixth place finish, putting the PM Truck Repair/LRB Race Products/JRI Shocks No. 31c in the third row for the 40-lap Bradway Memorial feature event.

As the race got underway, Cox was biding his time as he ran in the seventh spot during the early portion of the feature event. Heading down the backstretch on the 13th lap, Cox’s car made contact with another competitor, as his machine flipped violently, causing severe damage to his machine. Though Cox was able to climb from the wreckage un-harmed, his night would be over.

“I am not sure what happened to cause the wreck,” Cox said. “All of the sudden we hit, and it was on.”

Friday night, Cox was also in action at the Silver Dollar Speedway, and after timing in fifth fastest, Cox would finish fourth in his heat, and earn a spot in the eight-car redraw.

Pulling the four, Cox would line up in the second row for the scheduled 25-lap A-Main. When the green light flashed, Cox was able to get under Bud Kaeding to take the third spot, and was chasing after Sean Becker, and Jason Statler when the power suddenly went out.

With the estimated time to get power back to the track, officials opted to call the race after five-laps, and Cox was credited with a third place finish.

“It was a strange way to end the race on Friday, but I think we had a good car, and might have had something for the lead duo, if the race goes the distance,” he added. “It is a shame to leave the weekend with a destroyed racecar, but I am proud of my guys for all their hard work. We have some work ahead of us, but we will be ready to go in a couple of weeks at the Placerville Speedway.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, JRI Shocks, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, Axcel Race Suits, SafRacer.Com, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports,  and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2015!
