Cox Turns Attention to KWS Doubleheader After Frustrating Fall Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA: Justyn Cox’s last two visits to the Silver Dollar Speedway have been unkind to him and his team. A frustrating trip to the Fall Nationals has the Cox Racing team focused on this weekend’s King of the West doubleheader weekend.
“It was just one of those weekends,” Cox said. “We fought a throttle issue on Friday night, and Saturday night we just got stuck playing pin ball during most of the feature.”
The team’s two night stay at the Silver Dollar Speedway got underway on Friday night with Cox timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31BC in 20th fastest with 42 cars checked into the pits.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Cox was able to gain the position he needed to lock into the Friday night feature event, though he would fight issues with his throttle.
Gridding the field from the eighth row of the 25-lap feature event, Cox would slowly work his way forward. Still fighting issues that made it tough to lay down consistent laps, Cox was able to stay out of trouble as he escaped with an 11th place finish.
Looking to better himself during Saturday night’s finale, Cox would again struggle a touch in time trials as he ended up timing in 17th fastest in his time trials flight with 52 cars in action on this night.
With heat races lined up straight off of qualifying times, Cox would turn in a strong performance that saw him work his way from ninth to finish in the fifth spot and move into the 40-lap A Main event.
Finding himself mired deep in the field for the feature event, Cox would have a hard time staying out of harms way. Involved in a pair of incidents in traffic, Cox’s night would come to an early end as he was credited with a 19th place finish.
“I hate having the tough weekend for my guys, because they work so hard,” Cox added. “We have another busy weekend ahead, and I am really looking forward to getting back to action with the KWS at Ocean Speedway and Thunderbowl.”
The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2016!
