PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of a weekend of action aboard his own Willie Croft Racing No. 29 machine, Willie Croft and the Rudeen Racing team reunited for a pair of World of Outlaws events, and the weekend was highlighted by a charge from 17th to 11th during the Mini Gold Cup in Chico, CA on Saturday night.
“It was an okay weekend for this team against the World of Outlaws,” Willie Croft said. “Friday night we started in the Top-10 and trying to make something happen on a tight track, we fell back and on Saturday night we got off to a slow start but were able to work our way forward.”
Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Croft would kick his Mini Gold Cup off by timing the Kaeding Performance/Brown and Miller/Rod End Supply backed No. 26 machine in 17th quick before finishing in the sixth and final transfer spot in heat race action.
Taking the green flag from the ninth row, Croft was able to quietly work his way toward the Top-10 as he raced in a tight pack of cars on the tricky Silver Dollar Speedway ¼ mile.
A wild feature event would see several caution flags displayed in the race’s waning laps, and Croft would use restarts to his advantage as he was able to pick up a couple of positions.
With the 40-lapper came to a close, the Roseville, CA pilot would take home an 11th place finish.
Just one night earlier, Croft and the Rudeen Racing team made the trip to the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA. With circumstances calling for group qualifying on this night, Croft would time in ninth fastest.
Finishing third in his heat race, Croft would line the XYZ/Firedown Graphics/Speedmart backed entry up in the fifth row for the 35-lap ‘A’ Main event. With the moisture staying in the track for much of the feature event, Croft would hang around the Top-10 and most driver jockeyed for the same piece of real estate.
Trying to make something happen, Croft would search around the Ocean Speedway trying to make headway, but it would not work out as he had hoped and he faded back to finish in the 14th spot.
“I have to thank Shane and Eric for all of their hard work this weekend,” Willie Croft added. “It wasn’t the easiest two night swing, but they worked hard for me. Now we will regroup and look forward to Calistoga.”
Willie Croft and the Rudeen Racing team would like to thank Kaeding Performance, Brown and Miller, Rod End Supply, XYZ, Firedown Graphics, and Speedmart for their support in 2016.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-5, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-1.
ON TAP: Croft and the Rudeen Racing team will return to action on Saturday and Sunday night at the Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, CA.
