Croft 12th at the Bradway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Willie Croft had a strong racecar on Saturday night during the Dave Bradway Memorial. After working his way up into the Top-5 late in the race, Croft’s machine would get upset in turns one and two and would drift off the racing surface, though he would salvage a 12th place finish.
“It was frustrating,” Croft said. “We chased it all night, changed engines, missed our heat, and got into a good position, but caught a rut that upset the car late in the race and slipped back to 12th.”
With 31 cars on hand for the 25th Annual Dave Bradway Memorial, Croft timed his Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/BMRS backed entry in sixth fastest. With engine woes at the end of his time trial session, Croft would skip his heat race, before finishing second in the night’s Last Chance Showdown.
Lining up 9th in the 40-lap feature event, Croft maintained inside the Top-10 during the early stages of the race, as track prep prior to the main made for an ever-changing track surface.
Following a red on the 12th lap, Croft came alive, as he began working his way forward. Getting into the 8th spot, Croft would keep running the ragged edge of the speedway, as he worked into the sixth spot when the caution flew with just four laps to go.
Moving up into the fourth spot on the restart, Croft would chase after Dominic Scelzi and Carson Macedo, but getting into turns one and two, he would get his machine upset, and slide of the surface. Keeping it under power he would get back on the track but the he had fallen back to the 12th spot, where he would go on to finish.
Friday night, Croft was also in action at the Silver Dollar Speedway, and after lining up in the seventh spot, Croft would find himself in eighth on the fifth lap, when the power went out, and the race was cancelled.
“It was a bizzare ordeal on Friday night with the power going out, I am just thankful everyone was able to stay safe,” Croft said. “Overall it was a disappointing end to the weekend, but my guys worked hard all night long, and I wish we could have finished up where we were running late in the race.”
