PETERSEN MEDIA- Willie Croft and the Rudeen Racing team got in two final nights of action on ½ miles before the upcoming Knoxville Nationals. Though the results were not what the team had hoped, Croft is confident heading into the busy two-week stretch.
“We have some things to still fine tune for the Nationals, but we have a great team and I am pretty confident with the direction we are heading,” Willie Croft said.
Taking to the Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, MN last Friday night, Croft would time the Rudeen Racing entry in 10th fastest in qualifying time trials before slipping back to a sixth place finish in his heat race.
Lining up in the 16th starting spot for the 25-lap feature event, Croft would maintain the position for much of the race as passing was tough on the ½ mile speedway. When the checkered flag flew on the event, Croft would come across in the 13th spot.
Saturday night the team headed to the Knoxville Raceway. Timing in 12th fastest of the 24 cars checked into the pit area, Croft would again pick up a sixth place finish in his heat race.
Lining up in the ninth row of the feature event, Croft would again look to make more laps on the famed ½ mile as he fought his way towards the Top-15 much of the race. Racing with Jake Bubak, Billy Balog, and RJ Johnson, Croft would close his final night of Knoxville Nationals preparation with a 16th place finish.
“It wasn’t the results we wanted, but we learned some things that I think will make us better when we get back here,” Croft said. “Thanks to the Rudeen Racing team for everything they continue to do, and I am really looking forward to the Nationals.”
