PETERSEN MEDIA- Traveling to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night to link up with the King of the West Series, Willie Croft would have a very strong showing as he closed his night out with a third place finish.
“We were pretty good all night,” Croft said. “It stayed really sticky and hooked up, and that made passing tough, but we put ourselves in a great position all night.”
Timing the Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed No. 29 entry in eighth fastest in qualifications, Croft would surge to victory during heat race action which propelled him into the all-important Dash.
Lining up in the fourth starting position of the Dash, Croft would get a nice jump as he moved into third, where he would finish and ultimately find himself starting the ‘A’ Main.
With the Petaluma Speedway still holding moisture and presenting the teams with a lightning fast surface, Croft would settle into fourth as the first half of the race clicked off with not much doing.
The leader having issues at the halfway point moved Croft into third on the ensuring restart as he now found himself chasing after Billy Aton and second running Chase Johnson.
Keeping the lead duo within arm’s reach, Croft simply couldn’t get in on their late race battle as he would close his Saturday night out with a third place finish.
“It’s great to end up on the podium, and hopefully we can start clicking more podiums off and turn them into wins,” Croft said. “Thanks to everyone who supports this race team and continues to help us out week in and week out.”
