Croft Looks to Work Through Rough Patch
PETERSEN MEDIA- On the heels of a DNF at the Placerville Speedway, Willie Croft looked forward to returning to the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA, a track that he has been so fast at during the 2014 season, but his string of bad luck continued as he was a roll over victim on the first lap of the race that was dubbed as the Peter Murphy Classic.
“It’s been a rough stretch here over the last three weeks,” Croft said. “I was looking forward to Tulare for the Peter Murphy Classic, and because we had been so good there to start the season, but we are in some sort of funk that I hope we can shake very soon.”
With 35 cars on hand for the Peter Murphy Classic, Croft started his night out by timing the Holey Smokes BBQ/Christian Stover Foundation/ButlerBuilt No. 29 machine in 11th fastest in time trials.
Starting on the front row of his heat race, Croft was hard on the loud pedal, and went on to pick up the heat race win, and earn a spot in the evening’s special Pole Shuffle.
Ending up fourth in the Shuffle, Croft lined up in the second row of the feature event, and when the action went green, Croft got up on Thunderbowl cushion, which was right on the wall, and getting into the turn two wall, Croft got upside down, and his night was over early.
“It’s just been a tough string here, and hopefully we can turn our luck around at Stockton,” Croft said. “ I have some great people who stick with me, and I can’t thank them enough for continuing to support us.”
