Croft Takes King of the West Top-10 Into Peter Murphy Classic Make Up in Tulare, CA
PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action with the King of the West Series in Petaluma, CA on Saturday night, Willie Croft would record a ninth place finish as he now heads to the Peter Murphy Classic with the series this week.
“We were way better than a ninth place car on Saturday night,” Croft said. “We were battling for a spot in the Top-5 late and got collected in one of the late accidents Fortunately we got stopped with no damage and restarted.”
Earing quick time honors aboard the Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed No. 29 entry, Croft then flexed some muscle in his heat race as he forged his way to the front and grabbed the win.
Finishing sixth in the Dash, the Roseville, CA driver would take the green flag for the 30-lap feature from the third row. On a slick and racy Petaluma Speedway surface, Croft battled with the Top-Five for much of the night as he looked strong in immaculate No. 29 machine.
Slipping back in the closing laps, a couple of cars would tangle in front of him on a green-white-checkered restart, and it would squeeze Croft into the wall with nowhere to go and he would stall his machine.
With it being late in the race, Croft would restart for another green-white-checkered in front of the cars that were all a lap down and managed to finish ninth as he now readies for a return trip to Tulare, CA this weekend.
“The last couple of nights we have been pretty good, and we are definitely gaining on it,” Croft said. “Looking forward to getting a couple more nights in this week to see what we can do.”
