Daryn Pittman 4th in Knoxville, IA with Roth Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to racing action with Roth Motorsports and the World of Outlaws for the first time since Florida Speedweek back in February, Daryn Pittman and company put together a pretty strong night on Friday at Knoxville Raceway’s Return to Racing by way of a fourth-place finish.

“I thought it was a really great night for our team,” Daryn Pittman said. “It was good to get back and race again. During the break we welcomed Tony Barkman and Stephen Hamm-Reilly to our team to help (Crew Chief) Brent Ventura, so it was great to get to the track and see how everyone meshed during a race night.”

Against a tough field of cars assembled at the ‘Mecca of Mud’, Pittman timed the Roth Enterprises/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co./HR Livestock Transportation backed No. 83 in sixth fastest in his qualifying group.

Picking up a second-place finish in heat race competition, the Owasso, OK native would make his way into the Dash where a second place finish put him on the front row of the feature event alongside Ian Madsen.

When the green flag was displayed to the field by flagman Justin Clark, Pittman mashed the throttle and jumped out to the early lead ahead of Ian Madsen.

Leading the first eight laps of the feature event, Pittman would lose the top spot as Ian Madsen used the high side of the speedway to scoot by. Back in second, Pittman would continue to chase down the leader, but would soon feel pressure from David Gravel.

Just past the halfway point, Gravel would take the runner up position from Pittman and just after slipping to third, Logan Schuchart would overtake him for third. Continuing to run in the Top-Five, Pittman would cap a strong return to racing off by taking the checkered flag in the fourth position.

“Big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for continuing to support us and field this car despite everything that is going on,” Pittman added. “I couldn’t be more excited about the team we have now, and I am really looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together. While we are disappointed with how we finished the race, it was great to keep our speed and consistency up that we had at Knoxville last season. We will continue to fine tune on it until we can be better at the end of each race.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co., HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, All Star Performance, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium, and Team Simpson for their support in 2020.
