PETERSEN MEDIA- Despite Knoxville Raceway admittedly not being one of his best tracks, Daryn Pittman put together an extremely strong weekend with Roth Motorsports over the weekend as he ran second on Friday night, before charging from 10th to finish third on Saturday.

“It was a great weekend,” Daryn Pittman said. “It felt really good to be really competitive at a track I struggle at. Both nights we had a really good piece, and I think we will be in the mix come August if we can be close to how we were this past weekend.”

Two nights at Knoxville Raceway kicked off on Friday night with Pittman timing the Roth Enterprises/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co./HR Livestock Transportation backed No. 83 machine in third quickest in qualifying flight ‘A’.

Picking up a second place finish in his heat race, the Owasso, OK driver would move into the Dash where the win put him on the pole of the 25-lap feature event.

Jumping out front over Shane Stewart as the field roared into turns one and two, Pittman then saw Brian Brown make a move by him to take the lead from him before the caution flew on the second lap.

Making a bid to get back by Brown on the ensuing restart, Pittman would get to Brown rear bumper before the leader took off and left the field in his wake. Doing what he could to keep pace, Brown as able to keep a buffer zone between himself and Pittman, though Pittman would be pleased as he crossed the finish line with a second place finish.

Returning to the famed speedway on Saturday night, Pittman would again show a ton of speed on this night, as he would earn quick time honors in his qualifying flight.

Slipping back to a third place finish in his heat race, Pittman would transfer into the 25-lap feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the fifth row.

While tough to pass at times on this night after Mother Nature saturated the grounds prior to the show, Pittman proved to be up to the challenge as he carved his way around the ‘Mecca of Mud’.

Working his way forward, Pittman would close in on the lead duo of Brad Sweet and Logan Schuchart, as he actually moved into second at one time in traffic only to see Schuchart get back by.

Though he will say Knoxville is not one of his better tracks, Pittman made some noise on this weekend as he capped the weekend off with a third place finish.

“This is the first time I’ve ever been this close to the front here,” Pittman said with a smile. “We had a fast car all weekend long, and the guys learned from Friday, and even got us better for Saturday. Big thanks to them for working so hard, as well as a big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for all they do for myself and this Roth Motorsports team.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co., HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium, Wicked Cushion, and Team Simpson for their support in 2019.
