Dawson Hammes 13th at Marysville After Late Race Incident Hinders Him

PETERSEN MEDIA: Dawson Hammes had a very strong run going on Saturday night at Marysville Raceway until late contact while running in the third position forced him to the work area and ultimately relegated him to a 13th place finish.

“We had a good night going, but unfortunately I pulled a wheelie late in the race, and when I got the front wheels back down, we endured contact to the left rear and had to give the spot up and make repairs,” Dawson Hammes said.

A total of 25 cars checked into Marysville Raceway on Saturday night for weekly points action, and Hammes kicked his night off by timing the Movements Brewing/STS Farming/Summit Partners Bank backed No. 55D in fifth quick in time trials.

Lining up third in his heat race, Hammes went on to tally a fourth-place finish and that moved him into the feature event but not the redraw as he then lined up ninth for the 25-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Hammes had a very good car underneath him as he was able to work his way towards the front of the field from his mid-pack starting position.

Jumping into fourth on the second lap, Hammes continued to race hard as he was able to use a mid-race restart to take over the third spot. Into third on the 17th lap, the 18th lap saw Hammes pull a big time wheel as he caught some grip on the race track and as he got his front wheel back down on the track and contact ensued with his left rear that left his entry damaged and forced him to the work area.

Able to make repairs and rejoin the field, Hammes lined up back in 16th with seven laps left in the race.

Doing what he could in the final stanzas, Hammes went on to take the checkered with a 13th place finish.

“I want to thank Samuel, Jeremiah, Travis, Clay, and Cody for all of their help at the track and lending us hands where they can,” Hammes said. “I also want to thank my parents, Carson, and Ally for always being there and continuing to support our racing efforts.”

Hammes Motorsports would like to thank Movement Brewing, STS Farming, All About Fire Protection, Summit Partners Burbank Agency, Escalera Inc, Harper Inc., and Ace Attorney Services for their continued support.
