PETERSEN MEDIA: Fresh off of his second win of the 2024 season one week ago, Dawson Hammes continued his strong 2024 campaign at Marysville Raceway on Saturday night as he finished in the fourth spot.
“It was cool to see Carson get another win, and to finish in the top-five is a great night for our team and family,” Dawson Hammes said. “A big thank you to everyone that continues to support and help us week in and week out.”
Saturday night saw 20 cars check in at Marysville Raceway and Hammes timed the Movement Brewing/STS Farming/All About Fire backed No. 55D in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials.
Putting him on the front row of his heat race, Hammes was hard on the throttle when the green flag flew and jumped out to the early lead. Leading from flag to flag, Hammes picked up the win which was vital as it locked him into the redraw and guaranteed him a starting position inside the first four rows.
Getting the eight when the draw took place, Hammes rolled off the starting grid from the outside of the fourth row.
When the race went green, Hammes began his charge towards the top five as everyone chased after his younger brother, Carson. Racing into sixth on the fifth lap, Hammes briefly made an appearance into the top-five on lap eight before falling back to sixth on the 11th lap.
The 14th lap saw the 21-year-old racer take the fifth position back, but he wasn’t quite done yet. Continuing to patiently work around the Marysville Raceway surface, Hammes moved into fourth on the 21st lap, and held the spot for the final stanzas as he captured his sixth Top-5 of the season.
