Dawson Hammes Continues Strong Start to Season with Podium Run at Marysville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Dawson Hammes continued his strong start to 2023 on Saturday night. After a week off, Hammes and his team made the trip to Marysville Raceway to resume regular season action at the track, and he grabbed a third-place finish.

“We had a really good car in the feature event, but starting 10th really hurt our chances at another win,” Dawson Hammes said. “The track was really slick, so it was good to show a lot of speed despite not having a lot of grip.”

Timing the Movement Brewing/STS Farming/All About Fire Protection backed No. 55D in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials, Hammes lined up sixth in his heat race.

With the track getting slick early in the night, the Marysville, CA driver was able to move forward as he carved his way to a fourth-place finish and solidified the 10th starting position in the 25-lap feature event.

Making changes on the Hammes Motorsports entry prior to the feature event, Hammes hit the track looking to pick up another Top-5 finish at the track he calls home.

When the green flag was displayed, Hammes quickly picked up a couple of positions as he jockeyed his entry around the ¼ mile nestled in Northern California. As the laps clicked off, Hammes continued to work forward as he entered the Top-Five in the latter part of the race and set his sights on Bobby Butler.

Able to get around Butler after a spirited battle, Hammes found himself in third with just a couple of markers left in the race. Doing what he could to reel in the lead duo of Brian McGahan Jr and Casey Schmitz, Hammes capped his night off with a third-place finish.

“My parents and brother Carson did a lot for me, and I am really thankful for their hard work,” Hammes added. “I also have to thank Joel Myers Jr for taking my call while he was in NZ to give some really helpful advice. I also want to thank Cody and Ally for their help and support on Saturday.”

Hammes Motorsports would like to thank Movement Brewing, STS Farming, All About Fire Protection, Summit Partners Burbank Agency, Harper Inc., and Ace Attorney Services for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 3, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 3, Top 10’s: 3
