Dawson Hammes Second at Spooktacular

PETERSEN MEDIA: Checking in at Marysville Raceway on Saturday night for the track’s final event of the year, Dawson Hammes flexed his muscle during the ‘Spooktacular’ feature event as he raced his way to a second place finish.

“We were really good all night long, and I have to thank Joel Myers Jr and my family for all of their help,” Dawson Hammes said. “There was a lot of good cars up there on Saturday and to run second to Sean Becker is pretty cool.”

A total of 30 cars checked in for the track’s final race of 2023 that pays homage to former Track Promoter, Paul Hawes, and also serves as a Halloween celebration for the community.

Timing the Voodue Company/Movement Brewing/STS Farming backed No. 55D entry in third quickest in qualifying time trials, Hammes started and finished fourth in his heat race and transferred directly into the 25-lpa feature event.

Also earning a berth in the redraw, Hammes pulled the vaunted eighth pill which put him in the fourth row to take the green flag. Able to avoid carnage on the opening lap, Hammes settled into a nice groove as the race finally came to life.

Battling his way forward, Hammes went toe-to-toe with some stout competition that included Sean Becker, Andy Forsberg, Brad Bumgarner and Blake Carrick.

With a couple of stoppages sprinkled throughout the course of the race, Hammes would use restarts to his advantage as he worked his way through the Top-Five and then into second in closing stages of the race.

Once in second, Hammes would give chase to race leader, Sean Becker, but to no avail. When the checkered flag was displayed to the field, Hammes capped his season at Marysville Raceway off with a second-place effort.

“It was a good night for us, and with the season really coming to a close in California, I am hopeful to sneak another race in before we shut down for the winter,” Hammes said. “Again, big thank you to everyone who makes this all possible.”

Hammes Motorsports would like to thank Voodue Company, Movement Brewing, STS Farming, All About Fire Protection, Summit Partners Burbank Agency, Harper Inc., and Ace Attorney Services for their continued support.

ON TAP: Hammes is hoping to take part in the 360ci event at Merced Speedway November 22nd and 23rd.
