Dawson Hammes Secures Another Marysville Raceway Podium

PETERSEN MEDIA: Four races into the season at Marysville Raceway, Dawson Hammes is establishing himself as a prime contender on any given night as the Marysville, CA driver picked up his fourth podium finish of the season on Saturday night.
“We got off to a tough start to the night, but we ended up with a very good car in the feature,” Dawson Hammes said. “The track was pretty tricky, and we started pretty far back so to end up third is a really good accomplishment for us.”
Saturday night in Marysville, CA, Hammes opened the night up by timing the Movement Brewing/STS Farming/All About Fire Protection backed No. 55D in 13th quickest.
Lining up fifth in his heat race, Hammes finished and found himself in the 13th starting position for the 25-lap feature event. On a tricky racing surface, Hammes and company made some adjustments hoping that Hammes could make a run through the field.
The changes seemed to suit Hammes nicely.
When the race came to life, Hammes spent the first handful of laps running in the 10th position as he was able to work his way into eighth on the seventh lap. Jumping into seventh on the eighth lap, Hammes worked into the Top-Five at the halfway marker of the feature event.
Running in fifth for much of the second half of the race, Hammes moved into fourth on the last lap of the race. Comign around the take the checkered, a late yellow would fly and it set up a green-white-checkered finish.
The late restart worked in Hammes’ favor as he was able to power into third on the final lap of the race, and net his fourth consecutive podium at the track he calls home.
“My parents, and my brother continue to do a lot for me and are a huge reason for the success we have had so far this year,” Hammes said. “I also want to thank Joel Myers Jr for helping as much as he can from New Zealand as well as Cody and Ally for making sure everything was good on the car. I also want to give thanks to everyone who came out to the track on Saturday, it was great to see the grandstands that full.”
