PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Wednesday night to battle with the Civil War Series during the opening night of the 2015 Gold Cup Race of Champions, a tough qualifying draw would set the tone for the night as DeCaires would end up finishing 14th.

“We went out really late in time trials and the track was pretty much gone,” DeCaires said. “From that point on we were in recovery mode, and it was hard to get anything going in the rubber.”

Going out 39th out of the 50 cars checked in on Wednesday night, DeCaires would time the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Foothill 7 TV/RedHawk Casino No. 4SA entry in 27th fastest.

Lining up seventh in his heat race, DeCaires had his elbows up as he was able to forge his way ahead, and pick up a third place finish to move into the 30-lap A main event.

With the feature going back off of his qualifying effort, DeCaires would grid the field from the ninth row on a track that was clearly on the verge of taking rubber. Picking up a couple of spots in the first few laps, DeCaires would settle in as everyone would soon find the rubber.

Looking for any of his competitors to slip up out of the groove, DeCaires essentially was forced to stay in line. Able to keep his tires under him for all 30-laps, the 2014 Placerville Speedway Champion would finish in the 14th spot.

“It is unfortunate when tracks get like that because it isn’t exciting for the fans or us in the seat,” he added. “It wasn’t the finish we were hoping for, but I am still thankful that Dale and Tara Miller made the trip up here with the car.”

Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Foothill 7 TV, RedHawk Casino, Halk Equipment Rentals, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, Hangtown Sheet Metal and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 18, Wins- 6, Top-5’s-14, Top-10’s-16

ON TAP: DeCaires and his Dale Miller Motorsports team will be back in action on Saturday night during the Placerville Speedway season finale.
