PETERSEN MEDIA- Greg DeCaires and his Dale Miller Motorsports team continued their strong start to the 2015 season, as DeCaires kept his podium streak alive by picking up the win on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway.
“Saturday’s win was a great boost for this entire team,” DeCaires said. “It was a great night all around for us, and felt great to get back in victory lane.”
Timing the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Foothill 7 TV/Redhawk Casino backed No. 4SA machine in fifth fastest, DeCaires would start third in his heat race as he would ultimately work his way to a second place finish.
Earning a spot in the night’s redraw by way of his qualifying time, ‘The Catfish” would find himself with the two, putting the Halk Equipment Rentals/NAAKE Suspension/A.R.T. backed entry on the front row of the 25-lap feature event, alongside Colby Wiesz.
With the green flag in the air, DeCaires slipped into the second spot as he flanked early race leader, Colby Wiesz. On the tight Placerville Speedway bullring, DeCaires would test both the high and low side of the speedways as he looked for a way around Wiesz as lapped traffic became a factor as early as the fifth lap.
Using a bold move on the high side on the ninth lap, the reigning Track Champion, would take command of the race just before a pair of red flags slowed things down. When the action picked back up, DeCaires would feel a little pressure from Wiesz, but would keep him at bay, as he went on to pick up his first win of the 2015 season.
“Our qualifying efforts were much better, and it allowed us to get into the redraw, and we were lucky enough to get the two,’ DeCaires added. “Bill, Dale, and the whole team gave me a great car, and were able to get out front early, and use traffic to our advantage.”
