DeCaires Father/Son Duo Compete at Placerville Speedway with Dale Miller Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, fans were treated to a special night of racing that included the first ever race featuring Greg and Bubba DeCaires as both were in action aboard Dale Miller Motorsports entries. The elder DeCaires would finish third while Bubba DeCaires finished 16th.

“It was a great night of racing, and I certainly had some butterflies racing with my son, as well as racing a brand new showroom type piece that Dale Miller put together,” Greg DeCaires said. “There is a ton of young talent at Placerville Speedway now and it was fun to get out there.”

After stepping away from full time competition at the end of last season, DeCaires made his return to racing on Saturday night as he timed the Thompson’s Auto/RedHawk Casino/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. backed No. 4SA JR in fifth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Moving into heat race action, the Elk Grove, CA driver would race his way to a second place finish which would be good enough to get him into the redraw where the three pill would put him in the second row for the 25-lap feature event.

When the green lights flashed, DeCaires would fall back to the fifth position on the opening lap before quickly getting into fourth. Battling with former veteran Jimmy Trulli, DeCaires would then overtake the third position on the third lap as he chased after Justyn Cox and Tony Gualda.

Amidst a wild race that saw several stoppages and restarts, DeCaires would do a great job in his first night back as he claimed the final spot on the podium.

Also in action on this night was Bubba DeCaires who was making his fourth career Winged 360 start with Dale Miller Motorsports.

Timing the El Dorado Hills Landscaping/Anrak Corporation/Frank’s Auto Body backed No.4SA machine in 19th quickest after admittedly making a few mistakes, the youngster would finish sixth in his heat race.

Lining up in the 19th position for the feature event, DeCaires would turn in some nice laps as he continues to hone his craft in the full size sprint car. Able to pick up a couple of positions, DeCaires would earn a 16th place finish on this night.

“I struggled to get comfortable in the feature event, but I think that is part of the learning curve,” DeCaires added. “I am really happy and grateful to be making laps in the 4SA for Dale Miller and to do it and be a teammate with my Dad on Saturday was pretty cool.”
