PETERSEN MEDIA- One week after getting back on the podium at the Placerville Speedway, Greg DeCaires and his Dale Miller Motorsports team backed it up against the Civil War Series on Saturday night as the Elk Grove, CA driver picked up a second place finish.

Timing the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Thompson’s Auto Center/RedHawk Casino No. 4sa machine in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials, the reigning Placerville Speedway Track Champion would pick up the win in his heat race and move into the night’s Dash.

During the top-eight redraw, DeCaires would find himself with the five pill, which would line him up in the third row for the sixth lap shoot out. On an extremely slicked off racing surface, DeCaires would finish in the fourth spot and line the NAAKE Suspension/A.R.T. Speed Equipment/King Racing Products No. 4SA machine up in the second row for the ‘A’ Main.

When the race came to life, DeCaires would move into the third spot as he chased after Chase Majdic during the opening two laps before the race’s first caution flag flew. The ensuing restart would see DeCaires get into the second spot as he went to work on race leader, Steven Tiner.

With Tiner opening his lead up at times over DeCaires during the course of the race, DeCaires would close in on the leader as the field got into lapped traffic, but yellows seems to fly just as things were set to get interesting.

A final restart came with just three laps to go, and DeCaires gave it a valiant effort trying to get into the lead. Running the bottom of turns one and two all race long, DeCaires would try to get the high-side working on that end of the speedway over the final laps but would come up short as he finished in the second spot.

“The track was pretty technical and we really had to get into traffic to catch the leader, but cautions seemed to fall just as that happened,” DeCaries said. “We had a really good car, and I tried to make something happen on the final restart, but it didn’t’ work out for us.”

Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Thompson’s Auto Center, RedHawk Casino, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Gary Morgan Graphics, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Smith Precision Products, MotoWear, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 7, Wins- 1, Top-5’s-5, Top-10’s-6
