PETERSEN MEDIA: Lance Dewease and his Dietz Motorsports team have been putting together some strong runs as their 2014 season comes to a close. Though they did not have the run they were hoping for on Saturday night at Port Royal with the World of Outlaws, the entire team is looking forward to closing out their season in Charlotte, NC in two weeks.
“It was not the best run we could have had to end our season in PA, but we made the show with the World of Outlaws, and we will look to better ourselves at the World Finals in a couple of weeks,” Dewease explained.
With 40 cars checked in at the Port Royal Speedway, Dewease timed his C.C. Dietz Builders/Conduit Connections/Hess Ornamental Iron No. 14 machine in 18th fastest, just narrowly missing the heat race inversion, putting himself a bit of a hole for the rest of the night.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the Fayetteville, PA driver finished in the fifth and final transfer position, as he advanced his Pro Shocks by LD Shocks/Triple X/Wings Unlimited backed machine into the night’s feature event.
Lining up in the ninth row of the 30-lap feature event, Dewease’s machine did not quite have the drive he was looking for as he battled right around the Top-15 for much of the race.
“We just did not have the speed we were looking for in the feature event, and couldn’t get rolling and moving forward,” he added.
With the race’s lone caution coming on the second lap, Dewease did not have any restarts to make up ground, as his night came to a close with a 16th place finish.
“We will move forward, and now put all of our attention on the World Finals,” Dewese said. “Charlotte has been a pretty good place for me in years past, so hopefully we can run well, and close our year out on a high note.”
