PETERSEN MEDIA: In action one more time in Pennsylvania over the weekend, Lance Dewease and his Dietz Motorsports team hit the Susquehana Speedway Park on a frigid Saturday and ended their year with a Top-Five finish.

“It was a great way to end the year, and to obviously really show how far we have come over the course of 2014,” Dewease said.

With 46 cars on hand for the finale, Dewease was scary fast out of the gate as he broke a 10-year-old track record when he went out for time trials, though it would later be topped during the session, and he would end up second fastest.

With the top-six qualifiers locking directly into the feature event, Dewease and company watched heat races to gauge the track, before Dewease lined the C.C. Dietz Builders/Conduit Connections/Hess Ornamental Iron backed No. 14 machine up in the third row for the 30-lap feature event.

As the green flag dropped on the feature event, Dewease held his sixth spot, as he spent the first half of the race chasing after Ryan Smith and Logan Schuchart as they battled inside the top-five just ahead of him.

Following a caution on the 16th lap, Dewease was able to get by Schuchart as he worked into the fifth spot, cracking the top-five for the first time in the feature event. Feeling pressure from Daryn Pittman for the fifth spot, Dewease would have nothing of it, as he kept the spot, and maintained his pursuit of Ryan Smith who ran just in front of him.

The caution waived with four markers remaining, and again, Dewease used the restart to his advantage as he got around Smith for the fourth spot, and began working on Freddie Rahmer for the third spot.

As the duo battled over the final laps, Rahmer was able to fend off Dewease, as Dewease would cross the stripe, and end his 29th season season, with a fourth place finish.

“We had a really good car, and restarts really worked out for us,” he said. “I can’t thank everyone involved with this Dietz Motorsports team for their help, and their continued hard work. We made some huge gains over the year, and am excited to see what the future holds.”
