DJ Netto 14th With World of Outlaws
PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto and his DJ Netto Racing team resumed their season at the Stockton Dirt Track over the weekend, and after having a tough Friday night, Netto rebounded to finish 14th with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series during Saturday’s event.
“Friday night we lost an engine in time trials and that set us back, but I had every opportunity to get through he B Main event but I just made too many mistakes,” DJ Netto said.
Putting a forgettable Friday night in the rear-view mirror, Netto would time his Penny Newman Grain/Netto Ag/Shell Rotella T6 No. 88n machine in 24th fastest.
Lining up in the fourth row of his heat race, Netto would take advantage of a couple of breaks that went his way and finish in the fifth spot which would transfer him into the 30-lap feature event.
On the slick Stockton Dirt Track racing surface, the Hanford, CA driver would line up in the eighth row when the green lights flashed. On this night the back of the pack too was stout and Netto found himself racing alongside World of Outlaws regular Paul McMahan, as well as fellow Californian Jonathan Allard.
Running in the Top-15, Netto would battle his racecar being a little to tight for his liking as he maneuvered around the 3/8 mile facility. Able to get up inside the 14th spot, Netto would try to sneak around Brad Sweet in the closing laps, but he would be unable to make the pass stick, and he finished in the 14th spot.
“Saturday night we just struggled with being too tight early in the night, and my guys got it better every time we hit the track, but we were still a little to tight in the main,” Netto added. “We were certainly better in the feature from where we started the night, and I really have to thank all of my guys for their hard work.”
