PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to his home track, the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA, DJ Netto had a great showing on Friday night that saw him lead laps early in the feature event before taking the checkered flag with a second place finish.
“It was a good night, I just made a bad decision on a late restart and it cost us a chance at a win,” DJ Netto said. “We ended up getting back up to finish second and it felt great to get a good finish for my guys.”
Timing his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Kaeding Performance backed No. 88n machine in sixth fastest during qualifying time trials, the Hanford, CA driver would finish fourth during his heat race.
By way of his qualifying time, Netto would move into the six-lap dash where a second place finish would put him on the front row of the event alongside Gio Scelzi. At the waiving of the green flag, Netto would fall into the second spot as he chased after Scelzi who got the jump.
Able to reel in the leader, Netto would jump into the race lead and set a nice pace as he began to click off laps. With Cory Eliason closing in on him, Netto continued to his his marks aboard the Shell Rotella T6/Va De Pol Enterprises entry.
A late race caution would bunch the field back up, and the restart would see Eliason and Netto battle for the top spot. With Netto getting a little out of shape, he would get his machine straightened out, but had falled back to the fourth spot.
Over the race’s final 10-laps, Netto would surge his way forward and end his night with a second place finish.
“I really have to thank my guys for their continued hard work,” Netto added. “They work hard to get our racecar better and better each night and it really shows. We are looking forward to getting back to work with the KWS this Saturday night, and hopefully we can have another good finish.”
DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Kaeding Performance, Shell Rotella T6, and Van De Pol Enterprises for their support in 2016.
ON TAP: Netto will meet back up with the King of the West Series this Saturday night at the Stockton Dirt Track.
