DJ Netto 5th With King of the West Fujitsu Series

PETERSEN MEDIA: Racing close to home over the weekend, DJ Netto would pick up a fifth place finish with the KWS Fujitsu Racing Series on Saturday night during the Peter Murphy Classic in Tulare, CA.
“We struggled a little bit in the 360 race on Friday night, but we really came to life and had a good night on Saturday night with the 410ci engine in,” DJ Netto said. “We hit a little rough patch, and hopefully this run can help get some good momentum going our way.”
Timing the famed Tri-C Machine/Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain backed No. 3c sprinter in sixth fastest in qualifying flight one, Netto would then go on and run second in his heat race to secure a spot in the Pole Shuffle.
Beating Bobby McMahan in the first round of the shuffle, Netto would then defeat Tanner Thorson, who was in the DJ Netto 88n on this night, before finally falling to Michael Kofoid to secure the seventh starting spot in the 30-lap feature event.
With fifth starting Rico Abreu falling ill just before the field assembled, Netto would move up a spot and end up taking the green flag in the fifth spot. Following the race’s final caution on the second lap, Netto would spend much of the night battling with Kofoid, Gio Scelzi, and Kyle Hirst as the race in a tight knit pack.
As the track took rubber prior to the feature event rolling off, track prep would throw a wrinkle into some team’s plans and things would be interesting with wheelies being the norm.
Netto stayed focused and was able to stay up front as he would pick up a fifth place finish when the rapid fire race came to an end.
Netto and team were also in action Friday night as they competed with the 360 Challenge Tour.
Timing in third fastest in his qualifying group, the Hanford, CA driver would then find himself on the front row of his heat race. Needing to finish inside the Top-Three to advance to the feature, Netto would find himself in an absolute dog fight with Carson Macedo for the position. The duo would exchange the spot several times in the 10-lap heat, with Netto finally getting the better of the battle.
Lining up 16th in the feature, Netto couldn’t really get going on the slicked off racing surface. Stuck in the middle of the pack much of the night, Netto would end up finishing in the 18th spot.
“Friday night didn’t quite go as we had hoped, but it was good to get out of the weekend with a Top-Five,” Netto added. “Peter Murphy does a great job with this event, and it means a lot to run well at it. Thanks to Clyde and Marion Lamar, my guys, and everyone who supports us.”
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-15, Wins-1, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-5
ON TAP: DJ Netto and company will travel to Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night before reuniting with the 360 Challenge Tour on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA.
