PETERSEN MEDIA: Overcoming a tough qualifying effort, DJ Netto and the Tri-C Motorsports team would roll their collective sleeves up and dig out of an early hole that resulted in Netto taking the checkered flag with an 11th place finish.
“We didn’t time in well, and that really made for a long night,” DJ Netto said. “The race track was really tough to make up ground on during the night, so we came from the B to start at the rear of the field in the A, and managed to move forward and end up 11th.”
Timing the Tri-C Manufacturing/Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain backed No. 3c sprinter in fifth fastest in his qualifying group. Lining up fifth in the heat race, Netto would be unable to earn the direct transfer to the feature event.
Finishing second in the semi, Netto would line up in the 17th starting position for the 35-lap feature event. From the back of the pack, Netto would do a nice job of moving forward on a surface that was not conducive to a lot of passing.
With a vast majority of the field working the bottom of the speedway, Netto would make timely moves as he worked towards the Top-10 amidst a non-stop 33 lap green flag run.
A late caution would bunch the field back up in double file formation, and getting another spot when the action resumed, the Hanford, CA driver would come home with an 11th place finish.
“I have to thank my guys and this team for all of their hard work,” Netto said. “We fought some gremlins for much of the night but we kept working at it and made the best of it.”
