PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking advantage of a picture perfect day for racing in Petaluma, CA on Saturday night, DJ Netto and the Tri-C Motorsports team would move forward on a heavy and rough Petaluma Speedway to come away with a ninth place finish.

“The track was pretty grueling and it was tough to make up ground, but we were able to pick up some positions and come away with a Top-10,” DJ Netto said.

Timing the Tri-C Motorsports/Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain backed No. 3c in fourth fastest in his qualifying group, Netto would finish fourth in heat race action and move into the 40-lap feature event.

Lining up 13th in the feature event, a traditional hooked up Petaluma Speedway would puts cars on the edge of disaster lap after lap, as they flew around a lightning fast speeds.

In the early goings of the race, Netto would find himself with nowhere to go as a car spun in front of him, and himself would come to a stop and he would be forced to the tail end of the field. From the back, Netto drove with poise as he inched his way closer to the Top-10.

Able to grab some positions, Netto would battle with Mitchell Faccinto and Dominic Scelzi in the race’s waning laps. Able to secure a spot in the Top-10 during the race’s final restart on the 39th lap, Netto would take the checkered flag in the ninth position.

Friday night saw the team check into Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA to get some laps for this weekend’s Dave Bradway, Jr Memorial.

Netto would get off to a nice start at the north state ¼ mile as he timed in fastest in qualifying time trials before finishing second during his heat race. Lining up on the front row of the 25-lap feature event, Netto would go toe-to-toe with Silver Dollar Speedway ace, Andy Forsberg.

Battling hard with Forsberg, Netto would lead laps early in the race, as the two jockeyed for position. A late restart would see Netto nearly loop his machine in turns one and two as he fell back to the fourth spot, and the very next lap would see him bring out the caution as he hung his right-rear over the embankment and brought his machine to a stop.

Restarting 11th in the final laps, Netto would finish in the 11th position.

“Friday night we were pretty good, I just started pressing to hard in the closing laps and cost our race team a shot at the win,” DJ Netto said. “It’s a habit I need to shake, but we had good speed over the weekend and I am looking forward to the Bradway this weekend.”

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-17, Wins-1, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-6
