PETERSEN MEDIA: Coming close on a few different occasions, DJ Netto broke through on Saturday night and scored his first ever King of the West Series feature at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA.

“It has been a long time coming, but it feels great to finally get that win,” Netto said. “My guys have been working hard all year, and we have been coming on strong as of late, and this is proof of that.”

Lining his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts No. 88n up on the pole for the 30-lap feature event, the race would get off to a slow start as yellow and red flags plagued the early goings.

Out front, Netto would not let the stoppages phase him, as he was very strong during the numerous restarts, as he kept the field at bay, as he worked around the choppy Thunderbowl Raceway surface.

At the race’s halfway point, Netto would get into the rough stuff on a double file restart, and would see the battle for the lead pick up. Slipping into the second spot briefly, Netto would get back into the race lead, as he navigated around a tricky Thunderbowl surface.

In the closing laps, the 2014 KWS Rookie of the Year was flawless, as he was able to pick up first career series win.

“The race was crazy with all of the stoppages, but I just kept telling myself to hit my marks, and stay calm,” Netto added. “It was a tricky track, but we had a great car, and I am just so thankful we were able to pick up the win.”

Netto kicked his night off by timing the King Racing Products/Vande Pol Enterprises backed No. 88n machine in fourth quickest before finishing fourth in his heat race. Lining up on the front row of the dash, Netto would pick up the win, and earn the right to start on the pole of the feature event.

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, King Racing Products, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Netto will travel to Northern California this weekend as he looks to defend his Mel Hall Memorial title on Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway before hitting the dirt at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Sunday night.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-20, Wins-1, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-4
