PETERSEN MEDIA: Hanford, CA driver, DJ Netto, continued his strong 2014 season over the weekend as he put on hard charges with both the Civil War Series and the King Of West Series at the Ocean Speedway during the Howard Kaeding Classic.

“I was terrible in qualifying on both nights, but we raced really well, and it is pretty cool to come from deep in the field both nights to score fifth and seventh place finishes,” Netto said.

Friday night with the Civil War Series, Netto started his night off by timing his machine in 21st fastest with 37 cars on hand for the event.

Lining up sixth in his heat race, Netto finished fifth aboard his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts machine, though he was on the outside of the A Main line up, and looking in.

Lining up seventh in the B, Netto put together a fine performance in the B Main event, as he worked his way up to the second spot, and transferred to the feature event.

With his finish in the B, Netto rolled off for the 30-lap feature even in the eighth row, and slowly worked his way through the star-studded field.

Taking advantage of a various cautions and red flags, Netto found himself in the fifth spot as he took the checkered flag.

Saturday night saw Netto drop his 410ci engine in his machine as he was in action with the King of the West Series.

Timing in 19th fastest, Netto again found himself outside of the heat race inversion, and his fifth place finish in his heat saw him again forced to go through the B Main for a final shot at making the feature event.

Finishing in the fourth spot, Netto again put his machine in the feature event, but on this night, he would have even more ground to make up, as he lined up in the 10th row.

With the race starting off with a very long green flag run, Netto again put on a charge as he carved his way past some of the regions top drivers.

Getting inside the Top-10 late in the race, Netto took advantage of a late restart to get by Jason Statler, as he ended his weekend with a seventh place run from 20th.

“It was a pretty good weekend overall,” Netto said. “Both nights had really tough fields of cars, and it says a lot about our team when we are able to come from the back two nights in a row and have good finishes. I can’t thank Cory and everyone enough for working so hard for me.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2014.

ON TAP: Netto returns to action on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway with the King of the West Series.
