PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto overcame a part failure halfway through the feature event at the Kings Speedway on Friday night to pick up a fifth place finish during the second King of Kings event of the season before mechanical issues sidelined him before the King of the West feature went green on Saturday night.

“We had some really good speed on Friday night, and were able to come up through the field twice, and on Saturday I thought we had a good car, but we had a part fail during the hot lap session prior to the feature, and we were unable to run the race,” DJ Netto said.

With 19 cars checked in on Friday night at the Kings Speedway, Netto timed his Neeto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts No. 88n entry in fastest during qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Hanford, CA product would pick up a third place finish, and keep his spot in the inversion for the feature event. With the eight pill being pulled, Netto would ultimately find himself in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event.

With the green flag in the air, Netto was hard on the throttle as he quickly jumped into the fifth spot, as he chased after Richard Vander Weerd and Craig Stidham. With cautions plaguing the early laps of the feature event,  Netto would continue to run inside the Top-Five with strong restarts. A lap six restart saw the former Rebel Cup Champion make a big move to slide into the third spot, only to see something in his machine break, as he would come to a stop on the ninth lap.

Able to make repairs, Netto would restart from the tail end of the field, as he would then work his way back forward. With the second half of the race seemingly going caution free, Netto was able to do some moving and shaking to fight his way back to a fifth place finish at the stripe.

“We had a really fast car all night long, and it’s a bummer we had to go to the back during the course of the race,” Netto added. “We have had some pretty good speed at Hanford so far this year, and I am looking forward to getting back there this week.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, King Racing Products, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Netto will return to the Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA on Friday night before continuing on with the King of the West Series on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-19, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-2
