DJ Netto Scores Cotton Classic Top-10

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to the track where he cut his teeth, Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA, DJ Netto would put together a good run during the Cotton Classic on Saturday night as he finished seventh in front of a ton of family and friends.
“It was a pretty decent night on a tricky track,” DJ Netto said. “Lee Lindgren and everyone worked really hard and we were in the Top-10 all night long.”
With 30 cars packed into the pit area for the track’s crowned jewel event, Netto timed the Tri-C Manufacturing/Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain No. 3C entry in second quickest in time trials, just missing out on fast time by .008 seconds.
Moving into heat race action, Netto would continue to look sporty on a tricky track surface that offered some rough patches, some dry spots, and a some slick areas. Finishing second, Netto would move into the Dash where a 12-invert placed him in the 11th starting position.
From the 11th starting spot, Netto would better his feature event starting position a couple of rows as an eighth place finish put him in the fourth row for the 30-lap Penny Newman Grain Cotton Classic feature event.
With the track treacherous in the feature event, Netto would find himself battling with the likes of Tim Kaeding, Cole Macedo, and Gio Scelzi for much of the 30-lap affair.
A couple of timely cautions would get the leaders out of traffic, but in open track the field would spread out as many of the drivers dipped to the low line of the speedway where it was much more smooth.
When the checkered flag flew on the event, Netto would come home with a seventh place finish as his attention now turns to the 24th Annual Trophy Cup.
“We were pretty good in the feature event, we just kind of slipped back in the final laps,” Netto said. “It was good to come back and run well again after last week, and hopefully we can run well at Trophy Cup this week and better our results from last year.”
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-57, Wins-3, Top 5’s-23, Top 10’s-34
