DJ Netto Takes Two Top-10’s Home From Stockton, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking on both the King of the West Series and the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night during one big season finale event in Stockton, CA, DJ Netto would finish eighth with the King of the West Series, which wrapped up fourth place in the 2017 standings, and finished seventh in the Sprint Car Challenge Tour feature event.
“To come away with two Top-10 finishes against two pretty tough fields of cars is a good feeling,” DJ Netto said. “It was nice to cap off my season with Tri-C Motorsports with a good run, and like I said earlier this week, I am very thankful for the opportunity Clyde and Marion Lamar provided me.”
In King of the West action, Netto would time the Tri-C Manufacturing/Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain No. 3C machine in seventh quickest in qualifying time trials before picking up a second place finish in his heat race.
By way of his heat race run, the Hanford, CA product would move into the KWS Dash where an eighth place finish would line him up in the fourth row for the final 30-lap KWS feature event of the 2017 season.
A cool night in Stockton, CA saw the track hold up very nicely and hold a lot of moisture that made for some high-speed racing. Running inside the Top-10 during the duration of the race that was mired with cautions and stoppages, Netto would battle with the likes of Bill Balog and Bud Kaeding for much of the feature.
When the final KWS checkered flag of the year flew following a late restart, Netto would come across the line with an eighth place finish which would net him fourth in the final series standings.
Piloting the Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain No. 88n in SCCT 360 action, Netto would get off to a nice start in that program as well as he timed in second fastest in his qualifying group.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Netto would finish in the third position and move into the 35-lap SCCT finale where he lined up in the 11th starting position.
The first 16-laps of the feature would go non-stop and Netto would work his way up to the eighth position when the race’s first caution flag flew. Once the first caution flew the flow of the race changed dramatically. Under yellow, Netto would have a left rear tire go down and he would be forced into the work area giving up his position inside the Top-10.
From the tail end of the field, Netto would take advantage of the handful of cautions sprinkled throughout the second half of the race as he was able to fight his way back up to finish seventh when it was all said and done.
“It was kind of a wild night of racing, and we were lucky to survive,” Netto added. “It was tough running two cars, so I really have to thank everyone who pitched it and helped, and made it possible. It was a fun winged season in 2017, and I am eager to see what the future holds.”
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-62, Wins-3, Top 5’s-24, Top 10’s-38
