PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto had another busy weekend that saw him compete with the 360 Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Friday night in Placerville, CA where he finished seventh before finishing third on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA with the King of the West Series.
“It was another good weekend for our race team,” DJ Netto said. “We had a pretty good car both nights, and came away with two good finishes.”
Friday night, Netto and the Tri-C Motorsports team returned to Placerville Speedway as they checked in for a night of racing with the new Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Timing in fourth fastest in his qualifying group, Netto would start on the pole of his heat race and pick up the win which placed him in the ninth starting spot of the feature event.
On the slick Placerville Speedway, Netto would battle well inside the Top-10 during the duration of the feature event as he raced with drivers like Steven Tiner, Jimmy Trulli and Kyle Hirst.
Working around the cushion most of the night, Netto would hold his own against a stacked field as he went on to finish in the seventh position.
Saturday night the team made the trip out to Petaluma Speedway in Petaluma, CA for the 13th King of the West Series race of the season. Getting off to a good start, the Hanford, CA driver timed the Tri-C Manufacturing/Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain backed No. 3c sprinter in fifth fastest overall.
Finishing second in his heat race, Netto would move into the nightly Dash, where a third place finish put him in the second row of the 30-lap feature event. Battling with Cory Eliason in the early stages of the 30-lap affair, Netto would briefly fall back to the fourth spot just before the race’s halfway point.
As things heated up with the lead pack, Netto would get by Bobby McMahan for the final spot on the podium in the closing laps as he took the checkered flag in the third position.
“We qualified a lot better than we had been, so that was another positive to the night,” Netto added. “Everyone was on the bottom so I had to be patient and be ready to go when I had an opportunity, and that’s exactly how it worked out.”
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-48, Wins-3, Top 5’s-20, Top 10’s-30
