PETERSEN MEDIA- Dominic Scelzi returned the seat of the Roth Motorsports No. 83JR in Northern California over the weekend and scored two Top-Five finishes, as he ran third on Friday night at Ocean Speedway, and fifth with the King of the West Series on Saturday in Petaluma, CA.

“It was a pretty good weekend for us, again,” Dominic Scelzi said. “We had a good car on Friday night, and on Saturday we actually ran the entire race with a broken shock so to finish fifth was pretty monumental task.”

Friday night at Ocean Speedway, Scelzi timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. No. 83 in eighth fastest in time trials with 22 cars checked in the pit area.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Fresno, CA driver would mash the loud pedal as he surged out to the lead and raced from the field to capture the win.

Going from sixth to third in the Dash, Scelzi would take the green flag form the second row for the 30-lap feature event. On the slick Ocean Speedway surface, Scelzi would stay in the hunt all night long as he continued to run strong.

Holding down the third position, Scelzi would keep Bud Kaeding and Justin Sanders in his sights, but just couldn’t do anything with the top-two as he finished third on this night.

Traveling to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night to resume action with the KWS, Scelzi would get the night underway by timing in seventh quickest in time trials before running second in his heat race to Willie Croft.

Just missing out on a berth into the Dash, Scelzi lined the Roth Motorsports machine up in the ninth starting position for the 30-lap affair.

On an uncharacteristically slick Petaluma Speedway surface, Scelzi would get going in the right direction despite losing a shock on the race’s opening lap. Admitting that it was pretty tough to driver, Scelzi would do what he could to keep pace with the field.

Falling back as far as seventh at one point, Scelzi would be in the right place on the right time during a wild ending to the night, as he capped his weekend off with a fifth place finish.

“Thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for all they continue to do for myself and this race team,” Scelzi said. “We want to get this thing back in victory lane, and I think we will get there as the schedule picks up and we start to do a lot of racing.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support in 2019.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 9, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 7, Top 10’s: 8.
