PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in King of the West Speedweek that spanned through Northern California, Dominic Scelzi would pick up four Top-10 finishes including a fifth place effort during Saturday’s Champion’s Classic.

“The first three nights were really trying for our team, but we worked hard and closed the week out with a really good night,” Dominic Scelzi said. “Thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth, Todd Ventura, and everyone associated with this team for continuing to support us and let us have some fun.”

Starting the week off in Placerville, CA Scelzi and company would record a 10thplace finish as they shifted to Chico, CA on Thursday night and improved their result with an eighth place finish.

Continuing to look for more, Friday night took the series and Roth Motorsports to the first of two consecutive nights of racing action at Stockton Dirt Track where Scelzi would pick up another 10thplace finish aboard the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. No. 83 entry.

Making wholesale changes through the night and during the day on Saturday, Scelzi and company would come out swinging as he earned quick time honors in time trials, ran fourth in his heat race, and won the Pole Shuffle to earn the right to lead the field to green in the Champion’s Classic feature.

On a very slick racing surface that was the opposite of Friday’s surface, Scelzi would jump out to the early lead as he paced the field during the first 10-laps.

Battling with Tim Kaeding, TK would get be best of Scelzi as the Fresno, CA driver dropped back to the second position on the 11thcircuit.

On the slick surface that would soon start to take rubber, Scelzi would continue to hold down the second position until the 23rdlap when he fell back to third. Getting really tight in the rubber conditions in the final five laps, Scelzi would go into protection mode as he would cap his week off with a fifth place finish.

“Big thanks to my guys working so hard to give ourselves a great piece on Saturday night to close out the week,” Scelzi said. “It was a trying first few nights, but happy with what we did on Saturday. Again, thanks to the Roth family and everyone associated with our team for all of the continued support.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support in 2019.
