PETERSEN MEDIA- Though Saturday night’s Cotton Classic didn’t get off to the start that Dominic Scelzi and Roth Motorsports were hoping for, Scelzi rebounded well as he charged to a fifth place finish and is well in contention for the Championship heading into the season finale in Stockton, CA in November.

“I’ll take the Top-5 and the good points night after the start we got off to,” Dominic Scelzi said. “Thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth, and all the guys for working hard and putting us in position to bounce back as the night went along.”

Timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. No. 83 machine in 16thfastest in time trials, Scelzi would  pick up a fourth place finish in his heat race which would place him in the 16thstarting position for the 30-lap Cotton Classic feature event.

With the track extremely fast and hard to pass on all night long, it would widen out a little during the 360ci feature event, and create some passing for the 410ci feature which would play to Scelzi’s advantage.

From the eighth row, the Fresno, CA driver would work his way forward in a race that ripped of laps in torrid fashion. Able to quickly race his way into the Top-10, Scelzi would continue to work hard as he made his way towards the top-five.

When the fast paced 30-lap affair was over, Scelzi found himself in the fifth position, and just seven points behind both DJ Netto and Bud Kaeding heading into the KWS season finale on November 2ndin Stockton, CA.

“We did a great job as a team, and even managed to gain a point, and still be in contention to pull this off at Stockton Dirt Track in a couple of weeks,” Dominic Scelzi added. “Before we get to that point, we have Trophy Cup this week, and it is a race that means a lot to this team, and myself, and I am very excited. Again, huge thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth, and everyone who lends a hand on this car.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support in 2019.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 29, Wins: 7, Top 5’s: 20, Top 10’s: 24.
