PETERSEN MEDIA- In contention for the race win during the entire race on Sunday night in Chico, CA, Willie Croft was happy with his performance.

“It has been a turbulent season for us, so this night felt like a turning point,” Croft said. “We had a really good car, and we were right there battling with Kyle Hirst, Jonathan Allard, and Shane Golobic, at the end, and I am pleased with our third place finish.”

Taking to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Sunday night with the Civil War Series Presented by Flowmaster, Croft would get his Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/BMRS backed No. 29 machine timed in third quickest amongst the 42 total competitors before he raced his way to a third place finish in heat race action.

Starting on the front row of the dash, Croft and Kyle Hirst would battle for the top spot, with Croft finishing in the second position, putting him on the front row for the Silver Dollar Fair Race feature event.

The early goings of the feature event were plagued with stoppages, and restarts, and Croft found himself and Dominic Scelzi going back and forth for the second spot, until Croft finally took the spot on the eighth lap as the race got into a green flag run.

With the race leader getting away from the pack, Croft would chase him down as lapped traffic became a factor. In traffic things got interesting as Jonathan Allard and Shane Golobic came into the equation, as Croft had caught Hirst.

With four of the regions top drivers racing wheel to wheel in thick traffic, the caution flag would waive on the 24th lap, giving the leaders open track. Slipping back to third on the restart, the caution would waive again for the final time on the 27th lap.

The final three laps, saw Croft battle with Hirst for the second spot, but as Ed Entz’s checkered flag waived, Croft came home with a third place finish.

“It was just a really fun race, and a great surface,” Croft added. “Congrats to Jonathan Allard and his guys on the win, and again a huge thank you to my guys for working so hard, and sticking with me.”

Willie Croft Racing would like to thank Holey Smokes BBQ, ButlerBuilt , Brown and Miller, FK Rod Ends, Hinchman Indy, Schoenfeld, K&N, Smith Precision Products, Kaeding Performance, Dan Olson Products, Vortex Wings, Amerikote, and GUTS for their support in 2015.
