Double Down Willie Croft Fourth In Stockton, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA- Making the trip to the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night with his Willie Croft Racing No. 29, Willie Croft would have a nice night with the King of the West Series that culminated with a fourth place finish.
“I really forgot how much fun the Stockton Dirt Track is when it goes slick,” Willie Croft said. “We had a good race going and might have had something in the last few laps but we burnt the left rear tire off and lost a little grip.”
Taking part in the Jimmy Sills Classic at the Stockton Dirt Track, Croft timed his Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed No. 29 machine in fastest in time trials, putting him in a great position for the night ahead.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver would pick up a fourth place finish during his heat race, which safely put him in the nightly dash due to his qualifying effort.
With lady luck not on his side during the dash draw, Croft would find himself with the eight pill, which lined him up in the fourth row of the sixth lap shootout. On the slick Stockton Dirt Track, Croft would pick up a position as a seventh place finish placed him in the fourth row for the 30-lap Jimmy Sills Classic feature event.
When the green flag dropped on the feature event, Croft had his elbows up as he was on the move aboard his FK Rod Ends/Hinchman/Schoenfeld backed machine. Working around the 3/8 mile facility Croft would work well into the top-five and was not quite done.
Battling with Bud Kaeding and Jonthan Allard, Croft would move into the fourth spot as the laps clicked off. With rubber going down on the speedway late in the race, Croft would close in on Jonathan Allard as he looked for a spot on the podium but would admittedly lose grip as his left rear tire wore down.
Able to avoid any major issues due to tire wear, Croft would hang on to finish in the fourth spot.
“I have to thank my guys for all of their help and hard work tonight,” Croft added. “It was a really fun race, and a nice way to build some momentum up before we head north this week.”
Willie Croft Racing would like to thank Holey Smokes BBQ, ButlerBuilt , Brown and Miller, FK Rod Ends, Hinchman Indy, Schoenfeld, Smith Precision Products, Kaeding Performance, Dan Olson Products, Vortex Wings, Amerikote, and GUTS for their support in 2016.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-10, Wins-4, Top 5’s-7, Top 10’s-8.
ON TAP: Croft will now head to the Skagit Speedway in Alger, WA this Thursday – Saturday to take part in the Dirt Cup.
