PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to work for one final weekend of racing action in California after a week off due to rain, Daryn Pittman and Roth Motorsports would again run well near Roth Motorsports headquarters as a second place finish in Hanford, CA highlighted the weekend.
“Friday night in Hanford, the track was a ton of fun and we were really good,” Daryn Pittman said. “To get another podium so close to the Roth Motorsports shop was pretty cool.”
Fresh off a week of rain, Daryn Pittman and Roth Motorsports checked into Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA and kicked things off by timing the Roth Enterprises/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co./HR Livestock Transportation machine in eighth quickest.
Starting on the front row of his heat race, the Owasso, OK driver would jump out to the lead and race his way to the win and make himself Dash eligible. A fifth place finish in the Dash lined the Roth Motorsports entry up in the third row of the 35-lap feature event on a track that would be primed for side-by-side action.
Running inside the top-five early in the race, the bottom of the track would slowly start to come in after the top-groove was the dominant line early in the night.
Admittedly not prepared to roll the bottom, Pittman would make it work as he was able to get by the likes of Shane Stewart and Sheldon Haudenschild to get into second and chase after David Gravel, who was the first one to get the bottom lane to work.
Chasing down Gravel, who had build up a sizeable lead, Pittman would cut into his lead in the waning laps, but just did not have enough time to mount a charge for the lead as he closed the night out with a second place finish.
Traveling to Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night for one final night of action in California until September, Pittman would open the night up by turning in the ninth quickest lap in time trials.
Picking up a fourth place finish in heat race competition, Pittman would move on to the feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the 12th position.
On the slick ½ mile, passing would prove to be tricky on this night as rubber would go down on the racing surface after just a few laps. Unable to make up any ground on this night, Pittman would close the night out with a 13th place finish.
“Saturday we kind of struggled all night, which was a little disappointing because Perris is a place that I am usually pretty good at,” Pittman added. “Still, pretty good weekend with a second place finish. Big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for providing us with a great equipment, now we will see what we can do in AZ.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co., HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium, Wicked Cushion, and Team Simpson for their support in 2019.
